Tall Ship

This is testing Maya's ocean shaders, so what a better way than with a tall ship sailing the rough seas! I am still going to add rain and a mist on the water. This is a 10 second animation so here is a frame with a flash of lightning and one without. This one was a lot of fun to do and I have gained confidence in the texturing department.

P38-2100 Update

Here is the P38 finished model, although I will be adding some more aircraft labelling now that I know why the lettering and decals were coming out backwards on one side of the model...I guess this is how you learn!!

The P38-2100

This is my futuristic look at the P-38 Lightning. This is a work in progress for one of my mid semester projects and as you can see the modeling is done, and I am down to doing the texturing for this beast. Come back in a couple of weeks and it will be completed...or at lewast it had better be!!

Man..I want one of these!

This hologram generator was created with Maya and Photoshop...I love the effect and the fact that the possibilities are endless. Photoshop and Maya are amazing programs..and there is not much you can't do with them.

From Idea to Reality (Almost)

This is a model that I am working on in Maya, which on its own is not significant, but this time I am modeling from a sketch of my own. I must say there is a certain amount of satisfaction when you see a drawing of your own come to 3D life. As you can see this is a work in progress and the finished model is destined for this blog...keep your eyes open!

Under the Sea

This was an interesting and time consuming project...not difficult, but tedious. Probably the most layers I have dealt with in Photoshop yet. Still, a lot of of fun, although I think it runs a little fast, but I suppose for 8 frames it is not bad. I originally had 9 but the first and last were identical and caused a wee pause, so I removed it.
I did extend the frame time to .2 seconds, but anything more than that it got jerky. That's it for now....don't stare at this too long without the Dramamine handy!!

Heads or Tails

Well after many attempts and watching slow motion coin tosses on You Tube....here is my coin toss animation. It's funny that with all the coin tosses I have witnessed, that I needed to see it in slow motion to really know what it looks like. This is just a beginning into animation with Maya, and I must say I am looking forward to it!.I think the toss looks pretty good....now for that landing!

Playing with Fire

Playing with fire in Maya that is! This is the first time working with particles in Maya, what a great tool. As you can see by the picture I have a lot to learn with creating textures, but I like the way the fire worked out. I messed with the fire settings for about an hour and the combinations  are endless. This is my very first attempt, and I obviously have a lot to learn, but as they say every great project starts with a fire in a brazier!! Well something like that. I look forward to improving my skills over the coming weeks and months...this will be my journal of that journey.
